"On the First Day of Creation God said: 'Let there be light…' And there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.” (Genesis 1:3-5).
My 2024 solo exhibition, New Earth, explored our divine connection to nature and the cosmos through the lens of the Genesis creation story. This cosmogonic journey guided the viewer through the Earth’s unfolding — from its conception over six symbolic days to the seventh, the Sabbath: a time of peace, reflection, and renewal.
In this painting, I explore the mystery and magnitude of the First Day of Creation — the moment light was spoken into being, dividing day from night, and setting the cosmos into motion.
