“The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly”.
This sentiment resonated with me while painting this tiny but mighty hummingbird in the lead up to my solo exhibition 'New Earth' in 2024. With all the trepidation that comes with producing a showcase of one's work and revealing it to the world, this creature reminded me to feel the fear and do it anyway!
This is perhaps why I often feel called to paint our feathery friends, inspired by their beauty, freedom, strength, joy and guidance.
